An Atari STE sample demo made in STOS.

This one has appeared without any pre-announcement. Just one guy getting on with stuff and releasing it, I guess.

The functionally named ‘M.Lynn’, who made an STE Outrun music disc a while ago, has created this very ‘UK- Sceners of a certain age group specific’ release.

Half Man Half Biscuit' are a UK Indie/Punk/Rock group (select which categories you think should apply). These appeared in the 1980’s, broke up, but reformed and are still currently active.

The track for this sample demo, Trumpton Riots, is very much from their earlier period and satirically riffs on an old and beloved British children’s television programme.

Here’s some more information from the author, including a couple of useful links.

I have made an Atari STE Sample Demo of The Trumpton Riots by Half Man, Half Biscuit from their album Back In The DHSS (1985).

This demo runs off a hard disk or emulated hard disk using a very low memory audio stream reader routine. It uses 2 buffers of 90k each and music plays at 12.5kHz. It could run off a floppy disk but this song is rather too long to fit on 2 floppy disks and floppies might be a bit too slow.

The subtitles are stored with frame timestamps (50Hz) per verse and displayed at the right time.

This is the BBC Old Grey Whistle Test recording which is clearer than the Album\CD.

I don't have a real hard disk to test it but it runs OK on STEEM. I know it's not technically amazing but I always liked HMHB!
